1. Dress Nice.
When I say nice, I don't mean just a nice shirt and pants/skirt. I mean go all out. Look as professional as possible. The nicer you dress the better. The more confident you look, the better as well. But you don't want to come off as arrogant. There is a happy medium. Find it and use it to your advantage. (Unless you are interviewing at McDonald's or something. Haha. Which trust me, you can get away with a polo and khakis for that.)
2. Research.
Don't just go in the interview and wing it. Research the place you are working for. Make sure you know the things they might bring up in the interview. (For example, if you're interviewing for a business position, make sure you know the CFO, CEO, etc.) Also, don't be afraid to take notes in with you.
3. Have a Good Question.
Whenever the interviewer asks, "Do you have any questions for me?" Make sure you have a good question or two prepared to ask. Even if it is just a general question like "What's the culture of the workplace?" or "How did you end up working for ______?"
4. Network.
After your interview, ask for a business card. Send them a quick thank you email. If you have any questions for them, ask them later in an email. Pursue them if you want the job. Ask for the job in your thank you email. Tel them why you think you would want to work there.
This is certainly not an all inclusive list, but these are just some helpful tips I learned recently. Thought I would pass it along. :)
